Job Summary and Qualifications The Monitor Technician is responsible for assuring the integrity of each monitored patient’s telemetry signal; interpreting and documenting patient heart rate, rhythm, and notifying nursing staff of rate/rhythm changes. The Monitor Technician may also assist with clerical functions, including order transcription, telephone communications, and other duties as assigned. Employees will be responsible for the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the adult and geriatric population. What you will do in this role Supports the philosophy of Kingwood Medical Center by facilitating cooperation of hospital staff in a multi‑disciplinary approach to patient care. Adheres to dress code, arrives to work on time, and initiates work in a timely manner. Adheres to policy regarding absences and tardiness. Consistently provides outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests. Displays initiative to see processes through to completion and offers assistance without being asked. Maintains awareness of own limitations and seeks guidance from appropriate personnel as needed. Prioritizes activities of self based on demands for service. Remains alert to detection of errors in own work and the work of others, with appropriate corrective actions initiated. Demonstrates an understanding of patient rights, including those pertaining to confidentiality, informed decision‑making, and privacy. Is aware of resources available for ethical concerns and makes appropriate referrals. Practices cost‑efficiency. Performs technical skills proficiently in accordance with established standards, as evidenced by annual validation processes. Demonstrates appropriate skills for assigned area/task. Anticipates needed supplies/equipment prior to beginning assigned task. Demonstrates ability to operate departmental equipment. Is responsible for equipment and instrument checks for assigned area, assures they are in proper working condition, and keeps Charge Nurse informed of any equipment or instrument problems and any rhythm changes.
