Mickey Truck Bodies is seeking a skilled Autobody Painter to join our Finishing Department. This position plays a key role in delivering the high-quality truck bodies and trailers our customers expect. About the Role The Autobody Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, and painting truck bodies, trailers, and components according to company quality and safety standards. You will ensure all finished surfaces meet durability, appearance, and performance expectations. Key Responsibilities Prepare surfaces through sanding, masking, cleaning, and priming Mix and match paint colors for accurate finish results Apply paint coatings using spray guns (HVLP) Inspect and correct defects such as sags, runs, or thin spots Follow all safety, environmental, and material-handling procedures Maintain spray guns, paint booths, and equipment Apply undercoats, sealers, and topcoats to various surfaces (metal, fiberglass, composites) Work with production teams to meet job timelines Record paint usage, color codes, and job details Perform touch-ups and final finish repairs Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 2 years of autobody or industrial painting experience Strong knowledge of paint prep, application techniques, and materials Experience with HVLP spray equipment Ability to recognize and correct finish defects Preferred Experience painting truck bodies or trailers Technical/vocational training in paint application Skills & Competencies Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship Strong color-matching ability Understanding of OSHA/EPA safety practices Ability to work independently and on a team Dependable, punctual, and organized Work Environment Manufacturing/shop environment Paint booth and shop setting Exposure to noise, metal dust, insulation materials, fumes, and moving machinery Required use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, gloves, and protective clothing Regular standing, walking, bending, and lifting Physical Requirements Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands and arms.
